RESEARCH Behavioral Econ PhD student
I'm a Doctoral student at the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University, specializing in Behavioral Economics. Decisions Sciences have been my passion throughout my life mainly because of my entrepeneural parents, who had their 30's fallen on Russia's 90's. Coming from the family of people who had to deal with money and people (top-mamgers and accountants), I was destined to major in Economics in college. However, my interest in game theory and psychology outweighed the perspective of becoming a CFO and brought me to graduate school. Currently I am working with Professor Reuben Kline on topics related to distributional preferences and fairness.
Research and creating knew knowledge is not just an occupation, it is my calling, my way of learning about this world and a tool for satisfying my curiosity about people and the choices they make. I feel blessed to have this amazing opportunity to be at the beckons of the political science research and contribute to its development. In the upcoming 3-4 years, I will have an opportunity to work with observational datasets and conduct experiments on human subjects with amazing group of talented researchers.
I express my perception of this world through mathematics. Call it a rational choice theory or bounded rationality, it does not matter to me. What I believe in is that every action has a purpose, all motivations are functions of prior experience and there is a common mechanism that aggregates all prior knowledge and shapes our posterior believes that result in certain choice we make. In the battle between economists and political scientists about whether people are rational or why they do things, I see myself as a mediator.
